Finding information on my 68 Dodge is not easy. Chilton's isn't the best manual I've ever seen, but I'm glad to have it. The manual itself is in great shape. Gently used without looking like it was dipped in oil.

One thing that should be pointed out first is that this book is published in Australia. So, the units jump from metric to english depending on the model and words such as whilst are sprinkled throughout the text. The first issue is somewhat annoying as I am used to thinking in English units. Also, the transmission application guide is incorrect (because it is for Australian vehicles).
I am only concerned about C4/C5 transmissions...so my nitpicks are regarding those. One, the gear ratios for the C4/C5 are wrong, which doesn't instill me with much confidence. Two, the intermediate band adjustment is given as the same for C4/C5 transmissions. The C4 requires you to turn the screw CCW 1 3/4 turns, the C5 is 4 turns. Lastly, the pictures aren't of the best quality...poor lighting and unfocused pictures abound. I must say though, almost all of the other models have satisfactory illustrations, it seems the C4/C5 is exception to the rule.
In summary, I would buy this book if you are going to rebuild one of the transmissions that are held within, but I also suggest buying Haynes "Ford Automatic Transmission Overhaul Manual: Models Covered: C3, C4, C5, C6 and AOD Rear Wheel Drive Transmissions, ATX", which I consider to be superior to the Ellery manual.

Some pictures and steps are not very clear, also alot of info has been generalized so if you have rebuilt some transmissions in the past it should help you. If you are new to rebuilding transmissions, search around for a DVD video, you will be much better off. But all in all, I'm glad I bought this one with my skill set.

This book is a must for Ford people!!! Explains in detail of the transmission... Very Helpfull... Rebuilt 4 trannys so far from reading this book and all 4 are running great with no problems...

I'm going to write the same review for all three of the ASE Test Prep guides I purchased.
To be honest, I'm not very impressed. I'm used to the study guides for the FAA flight tests which are generally excellent from everyone. These had typos in the questions. One question even said to refer to a diagram which they forgot to print! I also found several mistakes in their subject matter in the study section.
I think they are an aid and do help with the preparation but they publisher could have done a much better job especially for the price.

An excellent supplemental manual for understanding, diagnosing and repairing brake systems found on late model American cars. A lot of in depth info on anti-lock systems. Excellent illustrations and typical Haynes hints and tips for the DIY home mechanic.

Honestly, if you want to know about diesels, there are better books. BUT, this book has the best detailed explanation of high pressure fuel injection pumps ever! Ever! There's a guy on the net that does a video of the Bosch pumps and his material supplements this book (get them both). This is the definitive book for injection pumps that you shouldn't live without.

Very informative. Great for beginners. Reading this brings me back to my schooldays of workbook assignments. Nothing wrong with that. I'm actually learning the fundamentals of how diesels work after tinkering with them on a superficial level for the past two years.

Needed this book for my class but didn't want to have to pay full price (over $100) for it. Found a used one on amazon for much less. The book got here quickly and was in good shape. Had some highlighting and notes in the margins but no major damage.
Haynes disassembles every subject vehicle and documents every step with thorough instructions and clear photos. Haynes repair manuals are used by the pros, but written for the do-it-yourselfer. If you are the lucky (?) owner of a 504 Diesel, you need this book! It is (as usual with repair manuals from Haynes) very thorough, as it was made by picking the car apart bit by bit, and putting it back together. The Peugeot 504 is not the easiest car to maintain, as any owner would admit, but with this book, your life becomes easier. I found it to be very helpful in locating a difficult to find oil leak, and also to overhaul the diesel pump, not the easiest task. But even if you're not comfortable with any big repairs, you can save money on knowing your car, by doing routine maintainance yourself. This book will help you find what parts need maintainance,how often it needs to be done and how to do it. An unfortunate thing with Peugeot engines, is that they require several special tools. The book tells you what kind of special tools you'll need, but also in some instances how to make them yourself.
As a long-time Peugeot owner, I have saved thousands of dollars using Haynes repair manuals to guide me through repairs on my cars. I strongly recommend this book for all Peugeot 504 Diesel owners!
